This Large French Scarf Box was made Circa 1890 and is quite simple a Masterclass in Construction and design. The Box was made to store a Ladies Collection of Scarfs ( yes Scarfs!!,... France was a very Rich Country Circa 1890). Lets Start with the Woods used in the Superb French Creation - Rosewood is the main construction wood and there are Mahogany corners and Satinwood inlay and stringing. The Top and front open to reveal a Satingwood interior with large storage area above three drawers. The original Lock and working Key are present. The Floral decorative inlay is superbly executed and adds a touch of French Flair to this large Box.
